Metropolitan Police officer charged with multiple counts of rape and sexual assault

A Metropolitan Police officer has been charged with a number of historical sexual offences.
PC Robert Wing faces four counts of rape, two counts of sexual assault by penetration, and one count of sexual assault.
Police say the allegations involve the same victim and are reported to have taken place from 2013 to 2016 during periods when the constable was off duty.
Mr Wing was arrested in March and charged in late July.
The Metropolitan Police say they immediately suspended the officer when he was arrested on suspicion of rape.
The service’s Directorate of Professional Standards has been alerted to the case.
Mr Wing will appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on 27 August.
