ENFIELD, Conn. — K-9 Dunkin successfully captured a suspect involved in a burglary at a Garden Street residence on Thursday, police said.
Enfield police said the 3-year-old German shepherd apprehended the man, who was “hiding under construction debris” in a basement.
Officers responded to the residence after the homeowner reported the man was seen forcing entry into the house, police said. Cameras also had captured the man inside the residence, police said.
The suspect was not initially located after the drone team cleared several floors at the residence, police said.
Police said K-9 Dunkin also cleared several floors but did not find the suspect. When going to search in the basement, police said officers noticed a window had been broken.
“After multiple announcements were made for the suspect to give up and receiving no response K-9 Dunkin entered the basement,” police said. “The suspect was ultimately located and apprehended by K-9 Dunkin hiding under construction debris.”
Police did not identify the man or say what charges he was facing.
